Teach Me Tuesday- Makeup from NYFW

Teach Me Tuesday

is a new addition to Artists Within's blog and we are so very excited!

We will introduce to you the latest hair, makeup and wardrobe and teach you how to mimic the looks we are seeing in magazines, runways and on TV.

This model was seen in "The Row" fashion show.

"THE ROW, a luxury apparel and accessories brand by Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen"

This look is all about the luminous, fresh face.  If only we could all wake up looking like this!

Here are a few simple rules to follow to achieve the look:

1) Since we are at the final stages of winter, start considering switching your foundation to a tinted moisturizer. Not only do you get the added moisture, you will also get the SPF to protect your skin from sun damage in the months to follow.
 Try our Mineral Sheer Tint ($50.00) ; Alternatively, try mixing liquid Illuminator ($50) into your foundation to achieve this glow!

2) To contour your cheek bones and warm up the face, use our Cream Blush in Bronzage ($23).  Just apply with your fingers, blend out the edges and you're ready for Spring! 

A simple rule to remember: Cream products on Cream products; Powder on Powder.

Now onto one of our favorite decades...

The 60's

ERIN FETHERSTON

Get inspired by the decade that brought us PVC box dresses, pillbox hats, gogo boots, Twiggy and Peace, Love and Freedom.
   

1)  Charcoal smudged eyes -  Start off with eye base  ($21) to prevent any creasing. Press grey or black shadow into your lid blending slightly up and out, line your lids with black cake liner ($23) and finish with volume mascara ($26) 

      2)  Line lips with a bare lip pencil ($21). A peachy pink- #18 lip rouge $26 -is the right color for this lip!

                      3) Lightly dust the apples of your cheeks using a blush color similiar to your lip color. Try using Sheer Satin blush ($26) in Whisper Apricot. Or alternatively, pick up our 6 shade blush palette ($35) for all your "blushing" needs!

Tip: By PRESSING shadow into our lids instead of brushing it on, we prevent messy fallout especially when working with darker tints.

2 very contrasting looks but with the proper colors, tools and products both looks can be achieved with minimal effort!

MAKEUP

The Row's runway makeup demonstrated that less is more with this illuminated base, contoured cheeks and natural lip. *Hearts a Flutter*

Erin Fetherston took us back in time with this 60's, MOD inspired look.

HAIR

Wes Gordon made the traditional pony tail a little more pretty with soft waves. 

L.A.M.B  exaggerated the conventional bun atop her model's heads to go with her rocker chic collection.

DERNIER CRI

Calvin Klein's collection oozed with femininity. Nude "color-blocking" leaves room to play up your makeup and accessories with bright, bold colors!

Loving the patterns this season, Proenza Schouler made a stunning outfit that any fashionista would drool over!

Wow, what a crazy few weeks its been since we have been back in the offices! Our models have been working nonstop building portfolios, shooting for magazines and blogs, as well as working on their walks for all of the upcoming shows! Firstly, we would like to introduce two new male models that have joined the AW Models International team. Both Kyle and Erik worked great in front of the camera when they shot with Vanessa before christmas, check out the photos we just recently received!

Last week at Artists Within, the session styling class were all fortunate enough to receive instruction from one of Kevin Murphy's practicing session stylists. The girls learned many different styles and techniques for using all the different amazing products that Kevin Murphy offers. This is one line that we absolutely love, not to mention it is paraben-free and solely used for session styling. We brought two AWI models in for the girls to work with while David was teaching, and the end result turned out very cool! Check out Bronwyn and Kaitlyn with the graduated class of session stylists, and Kevin Murphy educator David!

Here we go bragging again....

Here we go bragging again about our students and the awesome work they do 

But you can't blame us. We are so very proud of our students and alumni; we want you all to know about it! And looking at their work, you'll understand why we brag so often.

Artists Within Alumni, Amelia busy working away on set creating this flirty photo! Utilizing everything she was taught about black and white photography and the importance of the makeup application. Great job Amelia! You've got mad makeup skills!

Amelia graduated from our full time makeup diploma program in October 2011, receiving distinction on her International certificate exam and is now a freelance artist for Stila Cosmetics.

Next up is Artists Within's Alumni Angela. Angela graduated from our full time makeup diploma program with Amelia in October 2011. She too has worked with Kelly Mulner to create an edgy, 90's inspired look on AW Models International, Kaitlin.

Angela currently works at a Clinique counter in Sears, educating others on skin care and makeup application using her knowledge learned at Artists Within. Beautiful work Angela!

Now on to another Alumni who will be continuing her education with Artists Within in February. Vered graduated from our Full time makeup diploma program in December 2011, completed the airbrushing certificate program in January 2012 and will be starting our Advanced Makeup Diploma Program starting in February.

With the drive to build a phenomenal portfolio, Vered has worked with Kelly Mulner to help her achieve portfolio photo's that are eye catching and show stopping!

And last but certainly not least, Artists Within Alumni and Artist, Satoko Suzuki.

Satoko graduated from our full time makeup diploma program, session hair styling diploma program,  advanced makeup diploma program and completed our airbrushing certificate course in 2011. Now working in Calgary, Alberta as an artist both free lance and on Artists Within's Artist Management team. Satoko has done makeup and hair for many different photographers, events, magazines, etc.
