Fashion Friday- Ombré Everything!

| Friday, March 30, 2012

It's an Ombré epidemic-get on board!

Ombré locks have been sported on all lengths and textures of hair by the fashion forward folks

Drew Barrymore, seen here hanging out in a skatepark for Instyle Mag, has a dramatic ombré on her shoulder length, messy 'do...
Look at her lips carefully and you'll notice a subtle ombré lip too!
Killin' it Drew!

For the short haired gal that wants to try the ombré, do it! It's a subtle effect that creates drama and depth.

The Ombré doesn't have to be just browns and blonde- try creating a temporary ombré effect with funky colors like pink and teal.
Kevin Murphy's color bugs should do the trick! And it washes out with one rinse, so you can try all the colors.

Ombré Makeup

If you missed Tuesday's blog, get back there and read it! We taught you how to achieve an ombré lip. Today we show you other variations of this hot trend!

The red lip ombré is stunning!
Your lips are the main attraction when eyes are kept soft and subtle.

This Ombré Lip found in Nylon Magazine uses both the top and bottom lip for the full ombré effect. Plums to fuschia to nude
paired with a soft pink blush and gold eyes keeps the pout a focal point

Adding gold shimmer to this orange lip creates a look that is nothing short of striking!
Monochromatic eyes and blush is just what this look needed!

Ombré on the Bod

This emerald green Foley + Corinna dress is a must-have!

Tights are an essential item for everyone- in a variety of colors, might as well have them all!

Happy Friday everyone-

Teach Me Tuesday-Ombré Lip

| Tuesday, March 27, 2012

om·bré

 adj \ˈäm-ˌbrā\
: having colors or tones that shade into each other —used especially of fabrics in which the color is graduated from light to dark
The ombre effect is no longer used strictly in fabrics-we're seeing it in hair and makeup too!
The ombré lip has been making its presence known.
Kate Moss sported her ombré lip on the cover of W Magazine, keeping it subtle and slightly down turned to reflect a 1920's inspired heart shaped lip

To begin creating this lip ensure your lips are in kissable condition-this means hydrate!
PRO TIP: If you need to exfoliate, a good lip exfoliant to use right from your cupboard is brown sugar-mix it in with a little oil and apply to your lips scrubbing gently to rid your pout of pesky flakes.
Make sure you use a lip primer to avoid bleeding. The wax in a lip primer will keep product from making it's way out of the natural lip line.
Using a darker lip pencil start by lining the top peaks of your lips and the bottom middle. Work your way to the outer edges-by starting in the middle of both top and bottom lip, symmetry and balance are achieved much easier.
To accentuate the heart shape, conceal the natural lip line at the outer corners.
Feather the lip liner into the lips to create the darker edges of the ombré effect. This helps to blend the shades in together.
Remember, there should be a fluid transition between the colors chosen. No harsh lines!
If you do your ombré lip like above, you are doing it wrong!
Finish the look off by adding your lighter shade to the middle of the lip. May we suggest a bronze shimmer...?
If you choose to use gloss for a little extra highlighting, make sure to place it in the centre of the top and bottom lip only.
Highlight your ombré lip by ading a little gloss as seen in Flare
Voilá! The Ombré lip has been achieved! Give it a try remembering the tips and tricks we have provided you.

Fashion Friday- Blushing Beauty

| Friday, March 23, 2012

Throw your bright colors aside this Spring and opt for subtle yet striking blush hues and nude tones

Blush in the Closet

Alexander Wang created this simply gorgeous dress!

This fun and flowy dress by Preen (Thornton Bregazzi) is great for a night on the town. Make it more casual by pairing it with a denim or leather jacket.

Marc Jacobs has done it again!
This dress is young, fun and easy to wear- perfect for a long summer night!

Blush on your face

Blush tones can be worn on all skin tones...

A light dusting over the lids and cheeks can achieve a 'beautiful blushing' effect.
Line the water line with a white pencil to brighten the eye

A matte peachy tone creates a nude base on olive skin tones

Blush with a copper undertone on dark skin creates a gorgeous undeniable glow!

Blush on your hair

For the non-commital fashionista wanting a *POP* of color in their hair, session stylist Kevin Murphy created the 'color bug'
The color bug is easy to use AND it rinses out with water!
Try creating an 'ombre effect' by using the bug on your ends and mid shaft of your hair.

The color bug can be used on all hair colors from your lightest of blondes to the darkest of chocolates

Rachel 'cute-as-a-button' McAdams opted for around the face color placement in pink. A funky addition to her vintage-esque dress

Placing the color on random strands, roots-to-ends, creates a hilight effect.
Try using multiple colors for some diversity!

Don't get too wild though-less is more especially if paired with beautiful blush or nude threads and makeup.

So blush this weekend or play it nude-Either way, you'll be turning heads!

Happy Friday!

Much Love From,

Trending Thursday-Bronze it up!

| Thursday, March 22, 2012

Bronze it up this Spring!

Bronzer is something that most of us have in our makeup bags without realizing the full potential of it...

Create an obvious, natural glow without looking fake!
Acheive this by using a "bronzed peach" color to kep the look young, fresh and natural! Pressing a cream liquid bronzer into the apples of your cheeks ensures a dewy application-great for Spring and Summer!

It’s easy to look polished and chic in bronze by applying a full foundation and then touching on the lids, cheeks and lips for this elegant monochromatic feel.
Tres Chic!

The smokey eye is always in season.
Try substituting your usual charcoal shades for various bronze hues-It’s a softer, more modern take on this classic.

A modernistic take of the typical bronze skin
Try beautiful silky skin that looks youthful and modern paired with an intense bronze eyeshadow in a lighter shade with a bit of shimmer.

Polished, perfect and golden.
Use a honey bronze powder over cheeks and lids with a 'barely there' nude lip.
Add a single strip of lashes to finish off this sophisticated slightly glam take on bronze.

Get your bronze on this Spring and Summer with these helpful hints from  makeup extraordinaire Tara Anand at Artists Within!
